Choosing a real estate agent to help you buy a home or sell your home is an important decision. Although it is tempting, let me tell you three good reasons why you shouldn't hire a Top Agent. And my definition of "Top Agent" here is an agent with a very high sales volume. This is typically the agent whose name you see on lots of signs around your community or billboards around town.
I just had to share this photo of the Holland Place entrance in Pelham, Alabama. You see lots of Birmingham area subdivisions come together to decorate their entrance. But have you ever seen one go so big for the 4th of July? I've never been more proud to be a resident of this charming community. If you're searching for a place to hang your hat, keep searching because Holland Lakes and Holland Place are so much more than that. This is a Pelham community you can grow old in... three lakes, walking trails and friendly neighbors come with every home sold :)
So after working in property management for years and being a long-time renter, I'm here to say that renting in Birmingham, Alabama is not all it's cracked up to be. As a typical millennial, I've always been of the opinion that owning your own home is overrated. I believed it would lock me into one location on this great big planet and it would ultimately cost me just as much as renting. But I'm here to tell you... boy was I wrong. Now the decision of renting versus buying is for each person to make himself but today I'll share a few points that helped sway me to the dark side.
So this is our new Saturday ritual... grab Beemer (my dog), grab our reusable shopping bag and head over to Pepper Place Market in the Lakeview District of Birmingham. This place is the best! Every Saturday from 9am-noon until about mid-December. They have tent after tent of fresh veggies and fruit from our local farmers plus handmade jewelry, soaps, doggy treats and lots of other things you didn't even know you need.
